Rummenigge demands improvement

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has demanded a reaction from his team after Wednesday night's 2-1 defeat to Bordeaux dealt a blow to their hopes of making the knockout stage of the Champions League.
An own goal from Michael Ciani after just six minutes gave Bayern a dream start, but Ciani then scored at the correct end to level before Marc Planus netted the winner in the 41st minute.
"We missed everything in the first half - a willingness to run, determination, cleverness," he said.
Bayern finished the game with nine men after Thomas Muller and Daniel van Buyten were both sent off, but Rummenigge felt the visitors lacked more than just discipline.
He added: "Then with the dismissal of Muller we had a numerical disadvantage which cost us dearly.
"We absolutely deserved to lose and are now obviously under pressure. We are clearly not stable at the moment."
A 2-1 win over Freiburg in the Bundesliga last weekend had lifted the pressure that was beginning to mount on coach Louis van Gaal, but that has now returned, and Rummenigge has called on the players to take responsibility for reviving the club's fortunes.
"You cannot survive in the Champions League if you play like us here," he added at the post-match banquet. "We now have two home games against Bordeaux and Maccabi Haifa and we have got to get six points or else it is going to be very difficult qualifying for the next round.
"It is now up to the team to react, to be defiant and to get the points that we need.
"I would strongly recommend and advise you (the players) to choose another gear because anything like this will not lead Bayern to success this season."
