Disallowed goal leaves Brown fuming

Motherwell manager Craig Brown insists his side were denied all three points against Rangers after controversially having a goal disallowed against the Scottish champions.

Tom Hateley handed the Steelmen the lead before Kris Boyd rescued a point for the Ibrox side in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash at Fir Park. But, in between those goals, Ross Forbes could also have had his name on the scoresheet when he helped a netbound Stephen Craigan effort over the line only to see the strike disallowed for offside.

Television footage suggested assistant referee John Gilmour made the wrong call and, Brown said:" I've always been an advocate of not criticising the officials so I won't do that - certainly not publicly. I've seen the TV evidence which would indicate the goal was okay."

He added: "But the officials have got jobs to do and they do them honestly. Unfortunately we didn't get the goal, which I think would have finished the game because we were very comfortable at that point.

"I was told that both Craigan and Forbes were onside but I don't want to be a moaner and a complainer. You get some decisions and some you don't. We didn't get that one but we might get one in the next game. We just have to accept it."

Boyd - who made his first start since recovering from a double hernia operation - netted with just 10 minutes to go to rescue a point for a lacklustre Rangers side.

Brown added: "We've got to fault ourselves because we gifted the goal to Rangers. It was indecision between the goalie John Ruddy and Mark Reynolds.

"That's our fault and we can't blame anyone but ourselves for conceding the goal. You don't give Kris Boyd a chance like that and expect to get away with it."
