Marco Tardelli: Giovanni Trapattoni Is Happy In Ireland And Will Not Take Nigeria Post

The former Inter and Italy U-21 boss does not believe 'Trap' will be going anywhere.

Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni has been touted as a possible candidate to coach Nigeria at the 2010 World Cup in the press, after Shuaibu Amodu was sacked last week, despite the Super Eagles' third place finish at the African Cup of Nations.

Ireland assistant manager Marco Tardelli has dismissed suggestions that the 70-year-old will leave his current post to lead Nigeria at the summer event in South Africa.

"These are stories that come from the newspapers. We are happy in Ireland, we have a contract, and we are doing well," he revealed to tuttomercatoweb.

"Perhaps an offer was made as has been done so many times, it's normal for Trapattoni to receive proposals. However, I repeat we are happy in Ireland, where there are some exceptional people."

Ireland did not qualify for the World Cup, after losing in a play-off to France in controversial circumstances.
