Becks should strip to celebrate

Posted Monday, February 15, 2010 by The Sun

CLARENCE SEEDORF has urged Becks to reveal his pecks against Manchester United tomorrow.

David Beckham celebrated AC Milan's victory over Juventus last month by ripping off his shirt and showing off his tattooed torso.

But he has vowed not to repeat his football strip if he scores for Milan against first love United in their Champions League last-16 crunch.

AC PEASY... Becks and Borriello celebrate goal

But AC's Dutch master Seedorf doubts Becks would be able to control himself if he scores.

And he wants his English team-mate to forget about upsetting his old pals in Manchester and let his emotions run wild.

Seedorf said: "If David scores a goal, he should celebrate. People should know it would not be out of disrespect.

"Scoring a goal in an important match is a moment of emotion that you just have to express.

"A lot of players don't celebrate against their old clubs but if you have always behaved yourself, scoring a goal in the Champions League is a special moment that evokes special emotions.

"He should just be joyful and celebrate. Anyway, I'd be surprised if he'd be feeling so easy after scoring.

"Hopefully, he will because that would be a good sign for us."

Beckham, 34, supported United as a kid and played more than 300 games for them before leaving Old Trafford for Real Madrid in a ?5million move back in July 2003.

And tomorrow night's emotionally-charged clash will be his first game against the Red Devils.

Seedorf, 33, said: "I have spoken to David about facing United and he's very much looking forward to it.

"It is like when I went back to Madrid the first time - you want to win but you have mixed feelings.

"It's going to be special for him but he's been coping with pressure his whole career, even if this is a very different situation.

"David's a great guy and is having a good time. He's performing well and I hope we can give him a very nice present by winning against United."

Gary Neville has guaranteed best pal Becks a great reception from fans at both games.

The United club captain said: "I'm sure it will be a special night for him. He will get a fantastic reception when he returns to Manchester.

"The fans will remember that he publicly said he doesn't want to play for any other club in England.

"He grew up as a Manchester United fan and played so well for the club."

But Nev reckons the welcome awaiting his mate from United's current crop of stars will not be so warm.

The defender, 35 on Thursday, said: "Beckham's presence does not distract from the importance of the match.

"It's a good story - he is returning to face us six years after such a good career with Manchester United.

"But, once the match starts, nobody will be thinking about it.

"We have played against former team-mates like my brother, Phil, and Nicky Butt, so you get used to it."

But Neville admits it will be difficult to ignore what Beckham can still do on the pitch and is expecting the usual fully-committed performance from his mate.

He added: "Beckham always gives his utmost, irrespective of the opponents.

"He's a true professional and wants to do well for his club."

Alex Ferguson's men are favourites to go through but have never knocked Milan out of Europe.

The Italian giants have KO'd United four times in Europe, with two during Fergie's reign in 2005 and 2007.

In fact, United have yet to score against Milan in the Champions League at the San Siro.

Milan got back to winning ways on Friday with a 3-2 victory against Serie A rivals Udinese.

Coach Leonardo believes history and a capacity crowd of 85,000 tifosi will help Milan win.

He said: "The stadium will be full. United are a great side but against them we have a great tradition.

"What makes the difference is our spirit. We had it against Udinese and it is what we need against United."
