Harford set to step aside

Posted Wednesday, February 24, 2010 by PA

Mick Harford will be in charge of QPR for Saturday's trip to Middlesbrough - but expects it to be his last game at the helm.

Caretaker boss Harford met with Ishan Saksena, Flavio Briatore's replacement as chairman, on Tuesday afternoon.

While he was not told of any concrete decision having been made, Press Association Sport understands the former Luton and Chelsea striker, who was initially given the job until the end of the season, is resigned to stepping aside.

Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock remains favourite to take over, but he is adamant he will be in charge of the Eagles for their trip to Doncaster on Saturday.

Warnock revealed he plans to visit a friend in Doncaster and has already booked his hotel room on Friday night, as well as claiming the match is far more important than Wednesday night's FA Cup replay at Aston Villa.

"There's nothing we can do about the speculation really," he said.
