Rooney grabs hat-trick as Inverness cruise

A hat-trick from Adam Rooney moved Inverness into second place as they ran out 3-1 winners against Queen of the South.
The striker opened the scoring when he latched onto a headed assist from Richie Foran to fire home from six yards three minutes before the break.
Inverness doubled their advantage within seven minutes of the restart as Jonathan Hayes set up Rooney to score with a left-footed volley.
Queen of the South reduced the deficit after 61 minutes when Derek Holmes placed his penalty beyond Ryan Esson following Grant Munro's foul on David Weatherston.
The visitors wasted the chance to draw level when Craig Reid sent his volley wide of the right-hand post. And that miss proved costly as Rooney completed his hat-trick from the spot after Robert Harris was adjudged to have fouled Foran in the box 16 minutes from time.
