Duffy seeking strong response

Posted Saturday, March 20, 2010 by PA

Brechin City manager Jim Duffy is looking for his side to bounce back against bottom-placed Clyde after losing their unbeaten home record last week when Arbroath won 2-0 at Glebe Park.

Duffy is out to consolidate his side's play-off place in the table, but defender Paul McLean is doubtful with a calf strain.

And on-loan Morton midfielder Alex Walker expected to again miss out because of a groin injury.

Duffy said: "We did not have a spark about our play last weekend and that was disappointing. I am hoping that is not the case this time out as Clyde have improved and are due a win soon.

"We will have to play well to ensure it does not come against us."

Clyde boss John McCormack will have to choose between teenage Jordan Allan and fit-again Scott Findlay for the goalkeeping jersey.

Regular number one Callum Reidford is suspended, but defender Alan Lithgow is ready to start playing again after injury.

However, midfielders Kevin Higgins and Steven Howarth remain sidelined and McCormack knows that his side have to turn better performances into results.

He said: "In our position there not much point in playing good stuff if you do not pick up points. We are playing a lot better but we need results and the sooner the better.

"Travelling to Glebe Park and getting a win and give us a springboard to climb the table. It is not beyond us to avoid relegation or the play-offs."P
