Ayr bidding to extend run
Posted Saturday, March 20, 2010 by PA
Ayr are on a fine run of six games without defeat and manager Brian Reid is looking for his side to defeat local rivals Queen of the South.
On-loan Falkirk defender Chris Mitchell is struggling with injury, although Rocky Visconte is ready to step back in after a hamstring strain and Kevin James is available after injury.
Reid remains disappointed that his side never saw off leaders Dundee in their clash during the week that ended 1-1.
He said: "Some people may well be thinking we would be satisfied with a point from the Dundee game but I am not, as I felt we had a reasonable chance to get all three."
Queen of the South have problems in defence.
Jordan McMillan looks set to be ruled out with a hamstring problem and captain David Lilley is rated as extremely doubtful by manger Gordon Chisholm.
Robert Harris is suspended along with midfielder Stephen McKenna, but Chisholm has brought Jamie Adams back to the club for a second loan spell from Kilmarnock.
Sean O'Connor in also in the Dumfries travelling party after a couple of trial games with Annan a year after retiring from the game through injury.
Chisholm said: "Ayr have brought in good players and they have got good results on the back of that.
"This will make this a tough contest apart from the local nature of the game."
