Ayr register vital win

Two second-half goals helped struggling Ayr pull off a priceless 3-0 win over Queen of South at Somerset Park.
Queens started the brighter of the two teams and should have gone ahead when Leon Knight wasted a glorious chance from six yards.
He was made to pay as Ayr took the lead 25 minutes in, Tom McManus keeping his shot down to drill home.
The visitors searched for a leveller but were thwarted in a scruffy encounter, and they were dealt a blow when Daniel McKay found the top corner from 20-yards.
Ayr were coasting and they were able to add a third with a minute to go as Queens lost their composure, David Hutton`s foul on Daniel McKay in the box allowing Mark Roberts to smash home the penalty.
