Gordon Chisholm's first match in charge of Dundee ended in disappointment as they could only manage a 1-1 draw with 10-man Queen of the South.
The visitors got off to a terrible start when Marc McAusland fouled Leigh Griffiths in the area and was subsequently sent off.
Griffiths dusted himself off to comfortably place the penalty past keeper David Hutton in the 16th minute.
Despite their efforts, the Dee could not score a second goal and they were punished when Robert Harris' 25-yard free kick levelled matters in the 58th minute.
Richard Hart's long-range effort produced a fine save from David Hutton in the 84th minute.
At the other end, David Weatherston was denied by Anthony Bullock in added time as the spoils were shared.
