Masterton blows Ayr away

Steven Masterton scored the only goal as Morton claimed a vital three points as they beat bottom side Ayr in a crunch tie at Cappielow Park.
The match was always going to be an edgy contest with both sides only separated by goal difference at the foot of the table.
The hosts enjoyed much of the opening stages with Peter Weatherson testing Craig Samson from close range before David Witteveen's header missed the target from the resulting corner.
Steve Bowey went close for the visitors just before the break but his effort was well saved by Colin Stewart.
Chances were at a premium in the second half but Morton took the lead 12 minutes from time when Masterton poked home Donovan Simmons' header from close range.
