Queens Park v Arbroath - Murray doubtful for Spiders

Posted Wednesday, May 05, 2010 by PA

Queens Park winger David Murray may have to settle for a place on the bench against Second Division Arbroath as he struggles with a knock.

The match definitely comes too early for injured trio Richard Sinclair, Martin Ure and Paul Harkins who remain sidelined.

Spiders head coach Gardner Speirs is looking for his side to build on a fine second half performance against Forfar on Saturday to establish a first leg lead.

Speirs said: "At one stage we were out of the play-offs but we battled back to equalise and we have to build on that in this game. Our away record this season has been good but we will be looking to get a positive result before we head to Gayfield at the weekend."

Arbroath midfielders Steven Doris and Jamie Redman are both struggling to be fit for the game along with Keith Gibson who is doubtful because of a knee problem.

Meanwhile front man Bryan Scott and the experienced Phil McGuire are back in training and could play a part but striker Steve Hislop is definitely out.

The Gayfield men just failed to make it out of the Second Division relegation play-off spot when they drew 2-2 with East Fife at the weekend and manager Jim Weir has nothing but praise for his players' efforts.

Weir said: "I am delighted with the performance of the players on Saturday and I felt we deserved to win the game and not been playing in this one. Queen's Park have nothing to lose and we have everything to lose."
