Dunfermline closed the gap on First Division leaders Raith to just a point by as they beat Dundee 3-1 at East End Park.
Willie Gibson gave the home side the lead in the 20th minute, calmly side-footing his penalty into the bottom-right corner following Nicholas Riley's foul on Joe Cardle.
Steven Bell doubled the advantage in the 42nd minute with a superb curling effort but Dundee managed to pull a goal back six minutes after the restart when Gary Harkins headed past home goalkeeper Chris Smith from close range.
However, Dunfermline substitute Patrick Clarke ensured his side took all three points when he poked home a Gibson cross from close range in the 78th minute.
