Rory McAllister and Scott Gibson were both sent off as Airdrie held Brechin to a 1-1 draw in a bad-tempered game.
Kevin Byers put Brechin a goal to the good as he curled a shot into the top corner after 23 minutes and McAllister nearly doubled the lead as his shot was turned around the post by Adam Szpilcynski.
Brechin continued to push for a second as Byers fired over but were pegged back after the interval when Gibson fired in from close range in the 53rd minute.
Three minutes after the equaliser the game turned sour when McAllister picked up his second booking.
A game which featured six yellow cards soon saw a second red as goalscorer Gibson was given his marching orders after 78 minutes.
