TIRANA, Albania (AP)—Albania’s national football team coach Josip Kuze has had a stroke and his condition is listed as stable.
Albanian football federation spokesman Tritan Kokona says the 57-year-old Croatian has been taken to a private hospital Thursday in the capital Tirana.
Kokona says he spoke with Kuze, and says doctors are checking whether he is strong enough to be transported to a hospital abroad.
In the 10 matches Kuze has coached the team since May 2009, Albania has won four, drawn four and lost two.
Albania’s next European Championship qualifier is at home against Bosnia Oct. 8.
