Real Madrid full-back Alvaro Arbeloa has admitted that the Blancos are struggling to score goals but insists that the key to winning against Deportivo la Coruna at the Bernabeu will be not conceding any.
Madrid host the Galicians in a key Spanish Primera Division game on Sunday night and need to garner maximum points in order to sustain pressure on champions and league title rivals Barcelona.
Jose Mourinho's side have struggled to score so far in the new campaign but have been rock solid at the back. Looking ahead to their match against Depor, Arbeloa believes that their defensive capabilities will be the key to victory.
"A game can never be predicted. We want to win against Deportivo and hopefully we will have a bit more luck scoring goals than in recent matches," he told Madrid's official website.
"We shouldn't let them score if we want to win the game, so we must have a solid defence. We find defending a very important aspect in our game and lately we are doing a good job."
Arbeloa played for Depor between 2006 and 2007 and it will be a special occasion for him to face his old side.
"It is always nice to play against a team you have previously played for. I didn’t play there for a long time, but it was a great experience and I still have some friends at Deportivo."
He added, "I would really like to score goals this season even though that is not my role on the pitch. Everyone likes to score goals."
