Team news
United will wait to see if they can call upon the services of Wayne Rooney after the England striker missed the midweek victory over Stoke City.
Rooney, who has mustered just three goals this term, picked up an ankle injury in the New Year's Day game at West Bromwich Albion and the former Everton frontman faces a late fitness test.
Rio Ferdinand was also absent on Tuesday night but the experienced defender has been given the all-clear to face the Reds while Edwin Van der Sar is nearing full health after being struck down with a flu virus in recent weeks.
Van der Sar remains doubtful and Ferguson has confirmed Tomasz Kuszczak will deputise, even though new signing Anders Lindegaard is now available.
Ferguson has stated he is picking from the same squad he used over the Festive period, which rules out Paul Scholes (groin) and John O'Shea (calf).
