Parma vs Fiorentina Preview: Mutu poised for comeback

Adrian Mutu is set to make his first appearance for Fiorentina in 2011 at Parma.

The Viola announced on Friday that the Romanian striker had been reinstated to Sinisa Mihajlovic's team after being dropped last month as punishment for walking out of training.

Several clubs had been keen to sign Mutu and he wanted a move in the hope of securing a bigger pay packet.

He stormed out of a training session following Fiorentina's refusal to sell him.

Mutu has apologised and promised the fans he will do his best for the club.

"I am giving Mutu another chance," said Fiorentina president Andrea Della Valle.

"Now he has to confirm on the pitch what he told me in private.

"He has to work and give his contribution to the team."

The 32-year-old striker has scored only one goal in six league appearances for Fiorentina, who have not won on the road this season.

The Viola have found the net just seven times in 11 games away from Florence this season.

Without Mutu in midweek, Fiorentina ended a three-match winless run with a 1-0 triumph over Genoa. The result lifted the Tuscany outfit to 11th in the standings.

Rivals Parma will look to end the rot on Sunday at the Ennio Tardini stadium.

Pasquale Marino's side have lost four of their last five games, including a 1-0 defeat to Lecce in the last round.

The Gialloblu lie 15th in the standings, just four points clear of the relegation zone.

Fiorentina will have to overcome the absence of midfielder Juan Manuel Vargas, who is out with an ankle injury.

Brazilian striker Amauri is set to lead Parma's attack with Argentinian forward Hernan Crespo doubtful with a muscular problem.
