Former Barcelona defender Ronald Koeman believes that the Pep Guardiola’s side are better than the club's 'dream team' of the 1990s.

The Netherlands legend was part of Johan Cruyff’s historic unit that won four successive Primera Division titles between 1991 and 1994 and also emerged victorious in the European Cup in 1992.

However, the current Barca team led by Guardiola are set to emulate that record as it is on the verge of wrapping up the league title in Spain for the third time in a row. The Catalan giants have also reached their second Champions League final in three years, having won the competition in 2008-09.

Koeman, who scored the winner in the final at the old Wembley stadium in 1992, says that the current team are better than the one in the 1990s and told El Mundo Deportivo: "This team have improved in many areas on ours, it is much better.

“We were able to play the very best game but also the worst. We weren't as consistent as this team."

Since taking over from Frank Rijkaard in 2008, Guardiola has won eight major trophies, including a record six in 2009.
