Salo: Football is better than sex

IF a bevy of Sun Page 3 stunners spent the night before a game with Salomon Kalou, they would be in for big surprise.

They would be massively disappointed too as the only things to get the Chelsea star hot under the collar would be formations, tactics and forward runs.

And Blues fans will be praying the Ivory Coast ace and his strike pals are able to play the kind of sexy football to put Manchester United to the sword tomorrow at Old Trafford.

Kalou, 26, definitely has his eyes firmly on the prize.

There is no mucking about on the eve of a big clash - no nookie, no fun and games. Just an ice-cold focus on the job in hand.

He even prefers footy to sex, which will be sweet music to Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti's ears as he bids to derail Alex Ferguson's title push.

Kalou, 25, admitted: "I'm a good boy - no sex the day before a match. If I had to choose which was better, football or sex, I'd say football.

"It's 90 minutes of pure pleasure and I can't always say that about sex.

"But it depends on the fixture and the score!"

Softly-spoken Kalou does not strike you as one of the most extrovert Premier League stars.

This is a bloke who lets his football do the talking, although he had no qualms about going starkers for a photoshoot to help raise awareness for male cancer.

He said: "Do I get shy about being naked? It depends who is in front of me.

"But I just spent two hours in a studio totally naked in front of a bunch of people I'd never met before and I didn't feel shy then.

"The photoshoot was real fun, it will certainly make some ladies look at me differently.

"I guess more men have seen me naked than women. I've never been naked in a changing room with 10 women getting changed or showered at the same time as me.

"My legs are the favourite part of my body. I feel very blessed and thank God every day that I am able to play football!"

Chelsea's storming end to a season which looked dead and buried a few weeks ago has given everyone at Stamford Bridge a real shot in the arm.

Ancelotti's men are having a blast at just the right time.

But, for Kalou, every day is like a dream come true - even if he had to spend hours in front of strangers wearing his birthday suit.

He said: "I always dreamed of being a footballer. I get to be part of something millions of people aspire to be part of.

"I travel the world, play in packed stadiums and the money is good too! I really do appreciate my life, especially when I think back to all the hard times growing up to get here. That keeps me humble.

"Raising awareness of male cancer is very important - it is something all young men should be aware of. If they know what to look for, it can save their lives.

"Men are embarrassed about going to their doctor but this attitude needs to soften. If you think something is wrong, go check it out.

"Men would take their car to a mechanic if they thought something was wrong with the engine, so why not look after themselves too?"
