Lazio vs Genoa preview - Hernanes: We still believe

I have a say

Lazio midfielder Hernanes remains upbeat about his side's chances of regaining fourth spot in Serie A as they prepare for their penultimate game of the season - at home to Genoa.

The Biancoceleste have endured a miserable couple of weeks, with defeats to Inter Milan, Juventus and Udinese seeing them slip to sixth in the standings.

Last weekend's 2-1 setback at Udinese left Lazio level on 60 points with Roma - two points adrift of the Friuli outfit, who occupy the final Champions League qualifying berth.

Udinese visit Chievo on Sunday while Roma travel to Catania, but Hernanes believes Lazio have recovered from their recent disappointment and hopes they can steal a march on their rivals with a win.

"The team is well and we will approach these last two games looking to take six points," he said.

"We still believe and we must concentrate on ending the season well. However, they will not be easy games.

"Genoa will come to Rome hungry for points as Lecce will do in the last round.

"Last weekend we took a mental blow but we have still enjoyed a decent campaign.

"We have a great desire to react.

"On the pitch at Udinese we gave it everything we had but unfortunately it went as it did.

"The fans have always shown great affection and I expect they will continue to support us as they always have done."

Lazio coach Edy Reja will be without Andrea Dias, Cristian Brocchi and Libor Kozak through suspension this weekend.

To further complicate matters, defender Stefan Lichtsteiner is likely to miss the encounter with a hand injury.

Genoa, meanwhile, go into the match in the Eternal City in 10th position in the standings.

The Grifoni beat Sampdoria 2-1 in the last round to clinch their third consecutive home victory.

Davide Ballardini's side will now look to end their three-month winless run on the road at Lazio.

"We have a difficult game at Lazio," said Ballardini, whose team have not won away from home since February 16.

"We will have to be at our best if we want to bring home three points."
