Hamilton down with a whimper

GLASGOW (AFP) - Relegated Hamilton signed off their disastrous Scottish Premier League season with a 2-1 defeat to Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday.
Richie Foran headed Inverness into the lead against the run of play right on the stroke of half-time before Simon Mensing levelled matters shortly after the break with his own header from a corner.
Adam Rooney restored Inverness' lead with a cool finish on the hour mark for his 22nd of the season before Hamilton were awarded a penalty for a trip on Dougie Imrie by Kenny Gillet.
However Mensing sent his spot-kick crashing off the bar as Hamilton's season ended on a low note.
Aberdeen leapfrogged Hibernian into ninth place with an away 3-1 win over their Edinburgh opponents.
Out-of-contract Hibs forward Derek Riordan opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a superb volley.
However, a Josh Magennis bullet header hauled the Dons level moments after the interval.
Chris Maguire then scored two inside a minute late on to claim victory for Craig Brown's side.
Elsewhere St Mirren and St Johnstone played out a goalless draw at New St Mirren Park.
