Wayne Rooney pop at Lionel Messi

Wayne Rooney claims Barcelona star Lionel Messi would struggle if he played in the Premier League.
Argie maestro Lionel Messi helped destroy Wayne Rooney and his Manchester United team-mates in a one-sided Champions League triumph at Wembley on Saturday.
But although the United striker has hailed Messi as the world’s best, he reckons it wouldn’t be so easy to display his silky skills at some English grounds.
And Rooney believes it is Barca’s midfield duo Andres Iniesta and Xavi who help make Messi look so brilliant.
“If you bring Xavi and Iniesta with him, yes he could dictate games in England. But it would be difficult, almost impossible for him to play as he does in Spain,” said Rooney on talksport.
“The game is more physical here, going to the likes of Birmingham and Stoke away is very demanding.”
But Rooney admits he was amazed watching Messi’s mesmerising performance close-up at Wembley.
“They are the best team I’ve seen and Lionel Messi the best player,” added Rooney.
“On my PlayStation I can make him do what I want but he’s even better in real life.”
