Capello: We were shattered! England boss blames a long season for woeful show against Switzerland

With thousands of angry fans delayed entry into Wembley, Capello's selection came under scrutiny as Switzerland scored twice though free-kicks from Tranquillo Barnetta after 32 and 35 minutes.
Frank Lampard pulled a goal back with a penalty before half-time but the folly of Capello's decision to start with Ashley Young on the bench was highlighted when the Aston Villa winger arrived at the interval to score a classy equaliser.
Capello, whose job would have come under serious threat if England had lost, nearly got out of jail when Bent twice should have finished the comeback.
