Tevez never an option for Inter - Italians admit Argentine was always too expensive
Tevez: Man City were demanding more than Inter could afford for the striker

Inter Milan have insisted there was never any chance of Carlos Tevez joining the Italian club during the summer due to Manchester City's high valuation of the player.

Tevez declared in early July that he was looking to leave the Etihad Stadium after finding it difficult to live apart from his children.

There were almost two months remaining of the transfer window and Inter were linked with a swoop for the Argentine, but nothing could be agreed.

And Inter sporting director Marco Branca admits they could not afford to pay the sort of money that Man City were demanding.

"Tevez has never been a possible purchase. City always valued him at €45million (£40m)," Branca told Sport Mediaset.

Eto'o sale

Inter did manage to bolster their strikeforce before the deadline with the signing of Diego Forlan from Atletico Madrid, having allowed Samuel Eto'o to join big-spending Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala.

Branca added: "The sale of Eto'o? We didn't want to give him away but in front of crazy figures it's hard to say no.

"As friends we have found the best solution for everyone."
