THE BBC is suing a TV channel owned by Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi — saying it is ripping off the Strictly Come Dancing format for an X-rated show.
Mediaset — run by the family of Berlusconi — plans to launch a show called Baila! on its Canale 5 channel.
It takes on rival channel Rai, which shows a BBC-approved version of Strictly.
Baila! is based on Argentina's Dancing For A Dream, which featured a topless dancer and simulated sex. It was also sued by the BBC.
Last night a spokesman confirmed BBC Worldwide is taking legal action in Italy "to protect the format".
Mediaset denies copying the BBC show.
