Brechin City vs Arbroath perview - Carcary missing again
Posted Saturday, September 24, 2011 by PA
Brechin will again be without Derek Carcary for their derby clash with Arbroath.
The winger was set to return to the fold following suspension but has now sustained a hamstring injury and, subsequently, will miss out once again.
Defender Gerry McLachlan and midfielder Craig Molloy will also be unavailable to manager Jim Weir as the Glebe Park men chase their second home win of the season.
Weir said: "We lost our last derby match at home to Forfar so we need to do better in this one. We have been slow to get going recently and then playing well to get back into games.
"It is time for us to live up to the expectations we had for the squad at the start of the season and start turning in 90-minute performances that bring wins."
Arbroath frontman Jordan Elfverson is available for the first time in five weeks.
Elfverson has endured a long spell on the sidelines due to an ankle injury but, despite being back to fitness, may have to settle for a place on the bench due to the form of Gavin Swankie and Steven Doris.
Manager Paul Sheerin has no injury or suspension worries and is looking forward to the encounter.
He said: "It is the first of eight local derbies for us this season and this one will have a bit of an extra edge as Jim Weir was the manager here before moving to Brechin.
"It will be a real test for us as they are a well-established side that usually compete at the top end of the table."
