MADRID (AP)—Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has kept faith with Chelsea striker Fernando Torres for the Euro 2012 qualifying matches against Czech Republic and Scotland.
Torres did not make the matchday squad for Spain’s previous match and his place was under threat from in-form Valencia striker Roberto Soldado, who has scored six goals this season.
Barcelona captain Carles Puyol returns to the squad after injury. The 33-year-old defender hasn’t played for the national team since a 4-0 friendly loss to Portugal on Nov. 17 last year.
The only uncapped player in the 23-man squad is Valencia defender Jordi Alba.
Spain, which has already qualified for Euro 2012, plays at the Czech Republic on Oct. 7 and hosts Scotland on Oct. 12.
