Lazio vs Catania preview - Reja keen to keep up momentum

Lazio coach Edy Reja has urged his players to maintain their winning momentum as they prepare to host Catania.

The Romans head into Wednesday's encounter at the Stadio Olimpico one point behind Serie A leaders Udinese and on the back of last weekend's 2-0 triumph at Bologna that marked their third consecutive win.

"We have not set ourselves any targets this season," Reja said. "We want to continue to do well until Christmas and only then will we have a better idea of where we stand."

Lazio, who have not lost since a 2-1 setback against Genoa on September 18, could take over at the top of the standings on their own if they beat Catania and Udinese fall at Napoli.

However, Reja remains cautious.

"It's going to be a difficult game against Catania," he said.

"We have to face it in the best possible way.

"We cannot be presumptuous.

"We must respect everyone because the Italian league is difficult and [Wednesday's] game should be just as important as any other game."

Rivals Catania travel to the Italian capital looking for their first win away from home this season.

The Sicilian outfit followed their impressive 2-1 triumph over Inter Milan with a 2-2 draw at Fiorentina last time out.

Catania coach Vincenzo Montella was satisfied with his team's performance in Florence but believes his players still has plenty of room for improvement.

"We can grow and we must grow," he said. "I know my players can give much more.

"We did well to come away with a point in Florence but we have to correct some mistakes."

Lazio will be without pivotal midfielder Hernanes, who is out with an ankle injury, and suspended defender Andre Dias.
