Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso was delighted with the 3-0 win over Villarreal and urged his side to focus on themselves in the La Liga title race.
The Los Blancos all but settled the match in the first-half as goals from Benzema, Kaka and Angel di Maria gave them a comfortable victory over the Yellow Submarine and keep them within touching distance of leaders Levante.
Speaking after the match, Alonso had nothing but praise for his side's performance.
"It is clear that our intention was to come out strongly; to get the lead makes things much easier, and we managed to do it today, like we did in Saturday's game [against Malaga]," he told Canal+.
"Our first half was fantastic and we gained control early in the game.
"We always have to try to improve. We are progressing, controlling the matches and reading the game well. We can still improve."
The victory sees Madrid remain second in the table, one point above Barcelona, and Xabi Alonso stressed he is not worried about how the Catalan giants have been doing.
"We are only focused on ourselves," the midfielder added. "To continue winning is the path to take."
