Valencia moved back into the Champions League places with a hard-fought 1-0 win at Real Zaragoza in midweek, and will be confident of another victory this weekend at home to a Getafe side who have failed to win away in the league in 15 attempts this year.

One of Valencia's strong points so far this season has been the improvement in their defensive record, with summer signings Victor Ruiz and Adil Rami taking a lot of the credit, and Ruiz believes he is improving with every game.

The Spanish Under-21 international told the club's website: "I feel good physically, despite the amount of games that I have played. I have also fitted into the group well and am delighted to play on both a Wednesday and a Saturday -it's what makes me stronger.

"We are all doing a very good job. We've been playing a lot and have some important games coming up.

"After getting the three points in Zaragoza we need to build on this on Saturday against Getafe. Then we have a game against Levante as our next league match.

"They haven't lost yet, and are a rival for whom we have to watch out."

Ruiz will be paired with Rami again for the meeting with Getafe after the Frenchman served the second match of his two-game suspension against Zaragoza. Sergio Canales and Hedwiges Maduro are long-term injury problems for Emery but otherwise he has a full squad to choose from.

Getafe rescued a point after twice coming from behind against Osasuna on Wednesday, but still sit just above the relegation zone with seven points from nine matches.

However, midfielder Pedro Rios believes his side have just been lacking a bit of luck in recent weeks.

He told a press conference broadcast on the club's website: "I think Osasuna were lucky the other day. Their first goal can't even be called a chance and in the second half the only opportunity they had they scored.

"It is true that when a team is going through this pattern you have to look forward. We aren't having the luck in front of goal but we have to keep moving forward."

Luis Garcia's side will have to cope without on-loan Real Madrid winger Pedro Leon for up to five weeks after he suffered a minor knee ligament tear, whilst Tsepo Masilela, Jaime Gavilan and Oscar Ustari also remain out injured.
