Rayo Vallecano vs Real Sociedad preview - Sandoval slams LFP

Rayo Vallecano manager Jose Ramon Sandoval will have to watch his side's encounter with Real Sociedad from the stands after being handed a two-match touchline ban.

But he believes his suspension is "over the top" and has hit back at the LFP.

Sandoval was sent-off during Rayo's 2-0 defeat at Villarreal last weekend but has defended his actions at El Madrigal and is unhappy at the league's disciplinary committee for their handling of the affair.

He said: "It is very sad to be the headline for this, because I think the suspension is a little over the top. The competition committee have given a ruling without knowing what happened and it is clear that this has harmed me.

"I am paying the price of being new and managing a humble team."

Rayo will also have to do without the injured Raul Tamudo and suspended Alejandro Arribas for the visit of the Basque side.

Real Sociedad have their own troubles having taken only one point from the last 18. Midfielder Asier Illarramendi is nearing his comeback from injury and could play a part in Madrid but Xabi Prieto is a doubt due to a virus.

Manager Philippe Montanier recognises the pressure is growing on his players after six games without a win and he has said he will take any kind of victory at Las Vallecas on Sunday.

"It is the hardest moment so far in terms of results but this doesn't change my determination," he told the club's website.

"Playing well gives you encouragement, but we need a win to get some confidence and continue improving. Right now I would prefer to play badly and pick up points."
