But Dzeko is still convinced they can end the campaign with a sackful of medals, after lifting the FA Cup last season.
He said: "We want to win things. We've dropped into the Europa League but want to win that now."
And while making his Christmas wishes, how about a repeat of the 6-1 thrashing of Manchester United when the sides meet in the FA Cup third round next month.
Dzeko said: "That was my favourite game because it was a great atmosphere and a historic victory over our city rivals.
"I've been here a year and can say that I feel at home."
Sounds like Dzeko and City are Edin for great things next year.
