Falkirk 1 : 1 Partick Thistle - Partick pay the penalty
Posted Saturday, March 10, 2012 by PA
Partick missed the chance to take all three points as they squandered a second-half penalty in the 1-1 draw with 10-man Falkirk.
Paul Cairney put the Jags ahead on the stroke of half-time, collecting Chris Erskine's pass to fire home from 25 yards.
But the lead was short-lived and Falkirk pulled level from the penalty spot seven minutes after the restart.
Partick defender Aaron Sinclair handballed in the box and Mark Millar stepped up to slam the ball down the centre of the goal past Scott Fox.
The home side then suffered a setback when Kieran Duffie was shown a straight red for a dangerous challenge on Erskine.
But Partick were unable to capitalise on their numerical advantage as Bairns goalkeeper Michael McGovern saved Cairney's penalty 17 minutes from time before Sinclair rattled the bar with a volley late on.
