Guthrie joins Reading on Bosman as McDermott strengthens for Premier League

Midfielder Danny Guthrie has joined Reading on a three-year deal, the club have confirmed.
Guthrie, who plied his trade at Premier League rivals Newcastle last season, signed for the Royals on a Bosman.

The 25-year-old came through the ranks at Liverpool and Manchester United before impressing at Bolton and Newcastle.
But Alan Pardew could not make room for the midfielder, as Yohan Cabaye and Cheick Tiote cemented their place in the heart of Newcastle's midfield.
Guthrie has signed a three year contract and passed his medical on Friday at the Madejski Stadium.
The transfer will be formally completed on Sunday.
Reading chairman Sir John Maejski told the club's official website: 'I would like to welcome Danny to Reading Football Club and wish him every success here.
