Lee Clark hopeful of Birmingham signings despite embargo

New Birmingham City manager Lee Clark has revealed that he is hopeful of bringing new faces into his squad at St Andrews despite the club’s current transfer embargo.
The Blues finished fourth in the Championship last season and reached the play-off semi-finals, but have since lost former boss Chris Hughton to Norwich as well as a number of loan signings.
With Erik Huseklepp, Boaz Myhill, Guirane N'Daw, Peter Ramage and Andros Townsend all returning to their parent clubs, Clark recognises that bringing in new faces is his top priority.
"We're under-staffed and we need numbers and depth, but we also need quality," he explained to Birmingham Mail.
"You have got to be right on the ball to find that kind of quality and we're in discussions with players and agents trying to bring players in, and that will continue."
The club are currently under a transfer embargo due to their poor financial state, and have just 14 senior players on their books, but former Huddersfield Town manager Clark feels that attracting new players will not be a problem once the ban is lifted.
He added: "Difficult? Not really. They see the size of the club, and when they get the chance to speak to me they will see where my ambitions lie."
