Liverpool have lined up Diego Godin as a possible replacement for Daniel Agger
Denmark star Agger, who played the full 90 minutes in Liverpool's Europa League win over Gomel last night, has emerged as a top target for City boss Roberto Mancini this summer.
The Premier League Champions have already failed with two offers of £13million and £16million respectively, and are currently weighing up their options, after being quoted a £27million price tag by the Reds.
City are expected to return with one final offer in the coming days, and have been boosted by Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers admitting this week that he would be happy to sell if it would benefit the squad.
Rodgers has already been promised all money from player sales, and knows earning £20million plus for Agger would allow him to splash out in other departments.
