Queen of South 2 : 0Forfar Athletic - Lyle and Reilly sink Forfar
Posted Saturday, August 11, 2012 by PA
Queen of the South overcame visitors Forfar 2-0 in their Second Division meeting at Palmerston Park.
Derek Lyle put the hosts in front after 32 minutes, collecting a long ball from Kevin Holt which was hoisted into the heart of the Forfar penalty area before firing into the bottom corner.
Nicky Clark could have doubled the advantage two minutes later, but from the right-hand edge of the six-yard box he sent his shot narrowly wide.
The same player then fluffed another excellent close-range opening 17 minutes from the end.
But Gavin Reilly made the game safe in the 88th minute when he met Kevin Holt's inviting low cross and fired home from the edge of the six-yard box.
