Marquinhos has revealed that his decision to join Roma from Corinthians was not easy, but that he did it for the good of his career.
The 18-year-old defender agreed to sign for the Giallorossi this week in a loan deal costing €1.5m (£1.2m), with an option to purchase at the end of the season for €4.5m (£3.5m).
"It was one of the most difficult decisions of my life, but after speaking to my family, my agent and the Corinthians directors for a long time, I chose Roma for the good of my career," Marquinhos stated via his Twitter account.
"In the last 10 years I have grown so much as a player and as a man. I thank everyone, from those who tidied up my room in the youth academy to the highest director."
The transfer is expected to be finalised this week when the 18-year-old lands in Rome on Monday.
