Who will be the team to give Owen one more chance in the Premier League?

Earlier this summer, an assistant manager of a low-ranking club in the Barclays Premier League was talking about his team’s need for a centre forward.
‘We have been tempted by Michael Owen,’ said the coach. ‘A fit Michael Owen would be a no-brainer on a free transfer. But there is no such thing as a fit Michael Owen any more, is there? He’s just not worth the risk.’
Most managers in the top division clearly agree. Owen has been available all summer as a free agent after his release from Manchester United, but only Stoke City and Everton are known to have entertained the idea of taking on a player who is England’s fourth highest scorer with 40 goals from 89 games and is still only 32.

By all accounts Stoke were frightened off by the wages they felt they would have to pay, and Everton too have cooled on the idea of giving Owen the opportunity to end his career across Stanley Park from Liverpool, the club where it all started.
This time there has been no glossy brochure like the one the Owen camp circulated prior to his move to Old Trafford in 2009.
This time he has used Twitter and a couple of TV appearances to deliver his sales pitch.
‘The question mark for potential suitors is injuries,’ said Owen on Sunday. ‘But I know that once I get on a good run of games, I will become immune.’
Now approaching senior status as an athlete, Owen has seemingly been in denial about the injury issue for years. It is what prevented him from getting another United contract.
