One-club man: De Rossi could reject City to commit his career to Roma
The 29-year-old Italian international is rated as one of the best midfielders in Europe, and has emerged as a top target for Manchester City in successive seasons.
City were warned off a move 12 months ago, but believe they can land the powerful midfielder this term, and have already spoken with De Rossi's agent about a transfer.
However, new Roma coach Zdenek Zeman is confident that his leading light will remain at the club this summer, despite being offered a bumper deal to switch to the Premier League.
'I am convinced that De Rossi stays with us,' said Zeman.
'He is very important for us and the club has not asked me anything about him. I think he will remain.'
'Has Mancini have ever called me? Several times, even when I was at Pescara last year. The last time I heard from him was three weeks ago.'
De Rossi is said to be considering his options in the next 24 hours, and will host a press conference at the club's Stadio Olimpico stadium tomorrow to reveal whether he will stay or not.
De Rossi is currently valued at £30 million.
