Spurs Fan: Jermaine Jenas Joins Nottingham Forest on Loan

I have a say

One familiar face will be leaving Tottenham Hotspur for at least a month. It's a move that likely won't have too much of an impact on Spurs or the team's fan base.
Spurs confirmed on Thursday that midfielder Jermaine Jenas is set to join Championship side Nottingham Forest on a one-month long loan. The move is expected to be completed on Friday, meaning that Jenas could theoretically play in six matches during the loan spell. Forest are schedule to complete the following games over the next month; vs. Derby County, vs. Blackburn Rovers, away to Peterborough United, vs. Cardiff City, away to Blackpool and away to Barnsley.
The 29-year old midfielder has not been able to avoid injury woes over the past several years. He joined Aston Villa on loan last season, but that stint was cut short when an Achilles problem, one that required surgery, sidelined him for six months. Jenas hasn't started for Spurs since April 2011.
Reports back in the summer were that new Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas was high on Jenas. Jenas, as many Tottenham supporters expected, failed to meet expectations, and he ultimately fell down the pecking order below the likes of Aaron Lennon, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Moussa Dembele, Gareth Bale, Jake Livermore, Andros Townsend, Clint Dempsey and Tom Huddlestone. Jenas was an unused substitute in Tottenham's season opener at Newcastle United, and he saw a little over 15 minutes of action in the team's 1-1 draw vs. West Brom. Villas-Boas did not select Jenas for Tottenham's Capital One Cup clash at Carlisle on Wednesday, a game Spurs won 3-0.
It was heavily rumored near the end of August that Spurs were looking to send Jenas out on a season-long loan, and Forest were one of the clubs reported to be interested in the midfielder. No such move occurred, however, but rumors of Jenas rejoining his former club resurfaced earlier this week. Spurs then confirmed the move with the following brief statement:
"Jermaine Jenas is to join Nottingham Forest on loan for one month. The midfielder, who spent time on loan with Aston Villa last season, made the move to White Hart Lane in August 2005 from Newcastle United and has made 204 appearances, scoring 26 goals."
The truth of the matter is that the days of Jenas playing meaningful football at Spurs came and went awhile ago. A group of fans at White Hart Lane actually moaned upon realizing that he was entering the match during Tottenham's home game against West Brom last month, and some even booed Jenas as he jogged onto the pitch. For many Spurs supporters, Jenas will mostly be a "what might have been" player and not much more. The hope now is that this short loan spell will allow the player to enjoy a return to match fitness.
What happens after October 27 is currently up in the air.
