Dawson: Lloris deserves as many plaudits as Bale for West Ham win

Michael Dawson believes Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris deserves just as much credit for his side's 3-2 Premier League win over West Ham as match-winner Gareth Bale.

The Frenchman made a vital save when Spurs were a goal down and Matt Taylor was through on goal to make it 3-1 to the Hammers, a scoreline that would have been "probably game over" for Andre Villas-Boas' top four-chasing side.

Bale secured all three points after Gylfi Sigurdsson had equalized and has been grabbing the headlines yet again for another match-winning performance, but Dawson was keen to stress the importance of Lloris.

"One guy I want to mention is Hugo," Dawson told the club's official website. "He pulled me out of jail when I played Matt Taylor onside. He's got a real shiner for it as well!

"That was massive. It was 2-1 at the time and at 3-1, it's probably game over, certainly in terms of winning. It would be hard to come back from there, but Hugo made a tremendous save and he did the same in the first half as well."

Lloris joined Tottenham from Lyon in the summer and it took him a while before he wrestled the No.1 jersey away from Brad Friedel, but Dawson was glowing about his new teammate's performances this year.

"Hugo has certainly settled in well, he's been brilliant since he's been in the team and he deserves a massive mention as well," he said.
