Malaga vs Valencia preview - Perez waiting on clearance

New Malaga midfielder Pablo Perez faces an anxious wait to see whether he will be able to make his debut against Valencia on Friday night.

The Argentinian midfielder signed for Bernd Schuster's men from Newell's Old Boys earlier in the week but it is doubtful whether he will receive international clearance in time for the clash against Los Che.

Malaga sporting director Mario Husillos told www.malagacf.com: "We'd have great possibilities if Pablo Perez has a European passport, but we just need a little more time to resolve the situation, so it's not certain whether we'll receive the international transfer before Friday."

Regardless of whether he makes an appearance on Friday or not, the 28-year-old is looking forward to life in the Primera Division after spending his entire career so far in South America.

"I'm settling into life here well, I'm feeling good and loving being here in this city," he said.

"I think I'm adapting quickly to the team in training and think we're definitely on the right track.

"I've come from a team that plays very good, fast-paced football, which I hope I can put into practice here with Malaga."

Los Boquerones could leapfrog their opponents with a win at La Rosaleda as both occupy a congested mid-table with just seven points separating Valencia in eighth and Rayo Vallecano in 19th.

Malaga come into the game off the back of two defeats while Juan Antonio Pizzi's men will be looking to recover after being dumped out of the Copa del Rey by holders Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.

Schuster endured a rocky start to life on the coast, winning just three of his first 14 league games in charge after replacing Manuel Pellegrini.

But the Blue and Whites had won two in a row before their recent dip and Pizzi believes any team managed by the German, who has also had spells with Xerex, Levante, Getafe and Real Madrid, will provide a threat.

"They had a run of games that mostly they lost but recently there has been an improvement in their form," he told a press conference.

"They have a coach who is very familiar with Spanish football and they are at home so they are going to try to win."
