MANCHESTER UNITED are set to miss out on Toni Kroos despite his massive bust-up with Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola.

United manager David Moyes was hoping to pull off a dramatic £25m deadline day deal for the 24-year-old midfielder.

He travelled to Germany last week to watch Kroos in action for himself and was seen talking to the Germany star’s agent Sascha Breese during Bayern’s game against Borussia Monchengladbach on Friday.

United hopes appeared to be boosted on Wednesday when Kroos reacted furiously to being subbed by Guardiola during a 2-1 win over Stuttgart.

But Starsport understands that the player has told his agent he does not want to quit Bayern in this transfer window, although he is likely to seriously listen to offers in the summer after the World Cup.

Even if Moyes is unable to add more new faces to his United squad today, Ashley Young reckons the team can build momentum for a surge to the end of the campaign.

United remain six points off the Champions League spots and after tomorrow’s trip to Stoke, they have clashes against Fulham, Arsenal and Crystal Palace to come.

Moyes’ men have already lost four times since the turn of the year and have been dumped out of the Capital One Cup by Sunderland.

He said: “We always have that belief. There has never been a time when we don’t believe.

“Even when a lot of people have written us off, they are doing it even now, we never have.

“We look to build on the win over Cardiff and we want to build some momentum going into the last part of the season.

“When people speak about Manchester United there is an acknowledgement they always come strong in the second part of the season. Hopefully that will be the case again.

“There are plenty of points to play for and we need to start picking them up.

“We have said we want to start building momentum. That is what we do here.”
