Cagliari vs Hellas Verona preview - Mandorlini demands response

Hellas Verona coach Andrea Mandorlini is angry following the club's heavy defeat at Sampdoria and hopes his side can recover against Cagliari on Wednesday night.

The resounding 5-0 loss at the hands of Samp left Verona without a Serie A win since February 23 and they have also tasted defeat against Parma and Inter Milan in recent weeks.

Mandorlini was not happy with the performance at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris and is expecting a timely reaction when the Gialloblu look to halt their slide out of the top half of the table.

"I'm angry for losing the (Sampdoria) game," he said.

"We're not used to losing like this. We need to do certain things better and we are not as bright as we have been before.

"We are experiencing a bad period but that is normal during a long season. We have had a drop, not a crisis and we now expect to get better.

"It was a bad result but now there is another game for us to fight back. At this time we are struggling but now there are three close games."

Fifteenth-placed Cagliari are also without a win in three league games and coach Diego Lopez will not be expecting an easy return to form at the Stadio Sant'Elia despite Verona's weekend thrashing.

"They remain a strong team," he said.

"The league shows that they have done more than us. It is true they lost 5-0 but they were unlucky, they created lots of chances to equalise."

Lopez has seen his side fail to register a goal in their last two matches and the Uruguayan knows he needs to find an answer to get his goal-shy side firing.

"The league position is not entirely reassuring," he added.

"You need to go out and get points and to achieve that we have to score, which is what we lack at the moment. We have missed in the last few games but we remain optimistic, the goals will come."
