Pedro: "Luis Enrique knows what I have to offer"

Pedro Rodríguez is chomping at the bit ahead of the coming season with Barcelona, especially as new coach Luis Enrique knows his game inside out. The 'Azulgranas' striker assured from the team camp in Burton upon Trent (England) that his intentions have "always" been to stay at Barcelona and compete for a regular place.

Pedro:

"My plan has always been to stay here", said Pedro, who revealed that he talked with the director of football, Andoni Zubizarreta, at the end of last season and the club decided to keep him in the picture. "Also, I knew that Luis Enrique was coming in and because I've had him as a coach and he knows me, those were the deciding factors for me to remain at the club. I never hesitated. [Barça] are my lifelong club and I'm delighted to be here for another year", he remarked.

Pedro recalled that signings are made up front every year and that as such "competition is always very tough" in attack, giving the past examples of Thierry Henry, Samuel Eto'o, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alexis Sánchez. "Luis Suárez is a fantastic player and I'm sure I'll learn a lot from him", stated the frontman, who stressed that the common goal is "to have a good season" and it will be down to "the manager" to decide who will play.
