Hartlepool United FC vs Bury preview - Parnaby worry for Pools

Hartlepool's summer signing Stuart Parnaby faces a late fitness test for his side's first home league game of the season against Bury.

Parnaby sustained an ankle injury in the opening-day defeat to Stevenage last week and missed the midweek Capital One Cup exit at Port Vale.

Manager Colin Cooper has no new injury or suspension problems but may be tempted to make several changes after his side were thrashed 6-2 on Tuesday night.

Midfielder Tommy Miller, in his second spell at the club, is poised to make his first competitive Pools appearance at Victoria Park in over 13 years, while winger Ryan Brobbel, defender Matthew Bates and midfielder Michael Woods could make their home debuts.

Bury, for whom former Pools striker James Poole hopes to make his first start, have some injury concerns to contend with as they make the trip to the north east.

Goalkeeper Shwan Jalal injured his groin when saving from Jermaine Beckford in the 3-2 Capital One Cup defeat to Bolton on Tuesday night and had to come off at half-time. He was unable to kick the ball after making the stop and, if there is no improvement by Saturday, Rob Lainton will be drafted in after playing the second half and extra-time periods at the Macron Stadium.

Right-back Craig Jones missed that fixture with a back problem he sustained against Cheltenham in the opening game and will be assessed once again, while midfielder Kelvin Etuhu is still building up his fitness.

Danny Mayor has been troubled by a stomach bug but came off the bench at Bolton and could play a bigger role at Hartlepool.
