Manchester United ready to offer midfield star to Juventus in swap deal for Arturo Vidal
TURIN BOUND?: Italian giants Juventus are apparently keen to bring the Spanish playmaker to Turin

Juan Mata is a January target for Juventus and could hold the key to Manchester United finally landing Arturo Vidal.

Juventus feel midfielder Mata could become the odd one out at Old Trafford with the arrival of Radamel Falcao and are weighing up a move.

The Spain star only arrived at United last January in a shock £37.1m switch from Chelsea, but has yet to set pulses racing.

And Juventus have already sounded out his representatives about joining them, knowing that United have not yet abandoned their interest in Vidal.

A swap move could suit both teams with United still short of quality in midfield despite signing Danny Blind from Ajax, and the Italians looking for more firepower.

Sources close to Mata insist he is determined to be a success at Old Trafford and has no interest in leaving so soon after he moved there.

But that could change if he is pushed further down the pecking order with the arrival of Falcao and Angel di Maria.

Juventus could also offer him a quick return to the Champions League this season providing their European campaign goes according to plan.

And Vidal would have three months to prove he is free of the knee injury which put Louis van Gaal off sanction- ing a bid for him this summer.

Mata, who has scored seven times in 18 games for United, is under contract until 2018. Atletico Madrid and Valencia are also interested in him.

United, meanwhile, have received a boost with Michael Carrick starting his rehabilitation after ankle surgery.

The England midfielder, 33, is working in the gym and walking without crutches.

Adnan Januzaj can also expect some good news, too, with Van Gaal set to re-assure the Belgian that he is part of his plans.

Januzaj, 19, is believed to have been concerned about his role with Van Gaal making major changes, including switching to a 3-5-2 formation.
