Inter Milan vs Sampdoria preview - Mihajlovic pleased with Samp status

Sampdoria are right where their coach Sinisa Mihajlovic wants them to be with an unbeaten record heading into Wednesday's match at Inter Milan.

The Genoa outfit is in fourth place and just six points behind league leaders Juventus.

Samp showed their potential when they held Scudetto contenders Roma to a goalless draw on Saturday.

Mihajlovic had reason to be delighted, as for the fifth time this season his side kept a clean sheet.

"We conceded little against Roma," Mihajlovic said. "We handed a solid performance against a very good team.

"My players have taken a leap in quality.

"Now we know we can face any side and play at the same level."

Samp have given away just four goals in eight games.

"We are aware of our strength," Samp midfielder Angelo Palombo said. "But we must keep our feet on the ground, especially because we face a daunting game at Inter."

Rivals Inter have lost just once at the San Siro this season, a 4-1 reverse to Cagliari on September 28.

The Nerazzurri go into their midweek encounter on the back of Sunday's 1-0 triumph at Cesena.

That result halted a three-match winless run, lifted Inter to eighth place and eased the pressure on Inter coach Walter Mazzarri.

"We've overcome a difficult spell," Inter midfielder Hernanes said. "Sunday's game was an important win and now we must give continuity to this result.

"It will not be easy because we face a difficult rivals.

"Samp did well last season and have enjoyed a strong start to the campaign.

"But we are playing at home and we will give our all to come out triumphant."

Inter are hoping to recover Colombian midfielder Fredy Guarin, who is doubtful with a muscular injury.

Rodrigo Palacio, who has yet to score in Serie A this season, will partner Mauro Icardi in Inter's attack while visitors are without injured midfielders Alessandro De Vitis and Nenad Krsticic.
